The Best Lake Trout

What are some good tactics for fishing Lake Trout?
Im taking a trip up to Canada in a few months to do some lake fishing. Im expecting to mainly catch bass and pike, but i know there’s trout in that lake. Since ive never really fished for lake trout before, what is the best way to fish for them? i.e. Best type of tackle/bait to use, how deep to fish for them, and do you typically use the same tactics as walleye fishing (trolling deeper open waters)? Thanks
There are a number of different methods you could use to catch lakers later in the season.
One would be vertical jigging in very deep water. Late summer lakers will be found very very deep. Like at least 70 or 80 feet down.
Trolling for lake trout can be tough without downriggers. Here’s a link to a video that demonstrates an awesome method of trolling very deep areas without the use of downriggers. I use this method every summer and have great success with it.
