How To Trout Fish

what is the best type of cheese to use for trout fishing?and how do i use it? Do i ball it up?
Velveeta’ be the best. Haven’t used it in a long time but, as Triple*B mentioned formin’ it into balls is the way ta’ go. Again haven’t used it in awhile, however think that one can shape it into the ball form by placin’ a small portion in the palm of your hands and with applying pressure move your hands in a circular motion (know this can be done with Power Bait so don’t see any reason it would not hold true with Velveeta). Place some Split Shot about 18-20 inches above your hook (sizes 8, 10 or single egg hooks will do the trick). What I use ta’ do first is thread a small cocktail Marshmelow (tiny ones) on hook up to eye (Vellveeta don’t float but the Marshmellow does) then simply push hook inta’ cheese makin’ sure hook is completely concealed and there ya’ have it. Might add that Marshmellow with the cheese be an extra treat for them. Hope this helps ya’ out

10 Moons and 13 Horses $14 Gary Short’s new collection is the work of a mature poet at the peak of his powers, confident of his ability to move us without histrionics, to speak of human betrayal and the fragility of all life without bitterness or cheap sentiment, to find poignancy and beauty in loss and exaltation in the outwardly mundane. His voice is lyrical, tough, honest, and capable of touching us profoundly. Short knows Nevada’s austere and daunting landscape, its ephemeral beauty, and its stoic people as few writers in any genre do. He also understands the complexities of the human soul and the contradictions of love. So he tells of how his mother, dying of cancer after a life marked by cruelty and disappointment, revisits a day thirty years in the past when her sons trapped a trout and kept it in their father’s horse trough and how now, in her mind’s eye, she carries the boxed-in fish to the stream to release it, a moment/of having, not loss. And of how the feathers of a dead owl in a long-dead oak tree have blown loose, caught and leafed out/from each taloned twig and limb…each feather/a separate flight, shining to live. This is rich and wondrous poetry, eminently readable, deeply moving, unforgettable. |

A Man May Fish $88.69 The late KINGSMILL MOORE was one of the most respected men in Ireland in the decades before his death. A Man May Fish has become a classic since it was first published in 1960. The work covers a lifetime of fishing for trout, sea trout, and salmon. The author was a skilled and long-experienced angler with an enviable command of the English language, and his book is full of information on how to fish. Although it is often reminiscent, there are no idle memories: every incident teaches something of value, so that it is a useful, practical book. It is a book to enchant every angler for salmon and trout, add rates as essential reading. Revised in 1979 by the author to include 2 additional chapters and an appendix on the effect of waves and deeply stained water on a fish’s vision of a fly. Preface by Hugh Falkus, who considers A Man May Fish in his top twenty list of best angling books. |

A. K. Best’s Fly Box: How to Tie the Master Fly-Tyer’s Patterns $24.95 Fly fishers meeting streamside often go through a garrulous ritual, the aim of which is not friendship but espionage: Catching anything? On what? Rising fish? Mmm . . .what’re they looking at? And sometimes during this dialogue, an angler might happen to get a glimpse into the fly box of a lifelong student of fly fishing–a moment’s opportunity that will both impress and pique the wishful fly tyer. A. K. Best’s Fly Box, provides a much longer, much more detailed and explanatory look into the creations and methods of a great fly tyer. More than two hundred full-color illustrations depict naturals and their well-developed imitations–Cahills, Green and Brown Drakes, BWOs, PMDs, Red Quills, Tricos, Caddis, Midges, Stoneflies, Terrestrials, and more. A. K.’s step-by-step tying instructions not only teach the reader how to make excellent imitations, but also demonstrate an approach to tying that he has refined over years of practice. In fact, the author insists that he ties a hundred dozen copies of a single pattern before he can feel confident that he truly knows that pattern. A. K. has fished with all of the flies in this book for at least sixteen years, many as long as thirty-five years, continuously refining the patterns to make them easier to tie, more durable, and more effective at fooling trout. Anglers of any experience will benefit from this wise and thorough book that offers a revealing, highly instructional look into the fly box of one of North America’s most respected and experienced tyers. |
