I use spinners exclusively for rainbow trout everywhere. In a lake you are going to want to cast to cover or troll. My personal favorite brads are panther martin, and mepps. Get a variety of colours and types ( light, with hackle, deep, extra deep). For clear water, silver, silver w/ red dots, silver w/ red stripes, changing ( starts one colour and changes hues down the spinner blade) and anything natural patterned that is in that body of water ect. In murkier water, use gold colours. I have had success vice versa as well. The most important thing is don’t give up. If you cant get strikes shallow and fast, fish slow and deep. If your getting nibbles on silver but they won’t bite try sizing down or changing patterns. 2 tips to reduce frustration and foul language are check your line and re-spool if necessary, and use a swivel to prevent line twist. Pack lots of them. It also never hurts to have a few spoons such as five of diamonds and red devil for finicky fish in various sizes.
